The VNC server on DSL works  But the connection becomes unavailiable after several hours and I can't even ping the VNC server or the DSL box from a diffrent machine.......nebody had this problem and know a fix ?
(oh there is nothing wrong with my knowledge of networking so no bullshit questions or answers like.....whats your subnet mask ? blah blah blah)

Another thing .......if vnc viewer is open on another computer if i use the middle scroll wheel the VNC viewer screen crashes and if i attempt to reconnect it gives me the connection refused and i can't even ping the DSL box.

regards,
           lost in DSL land.

Sorry... I couldn't help myself

Is the vncserver process still running on the DSL computer?

If you open an xterminal and type:

ps -aux

on the local DSL screen, is it still running?

If you type:

ifconfig -a

on the local DSL machine, has the ip address changed on you, or is it the same address as you had when you originally booted up?

Is the interface status still "UP"?

Can you do outbound networking, like use dillo to visit google.com on your DSL box?

couldn't tell you it has no monitor....I've nailed it down to a problem with the VNC server and possibly windows....i can ping from a linux box! but i can't connect to the VNC server period its as though it times out or something then refuses to connect....tomorrow i'll throw a monitor on it and see.....looking more for information from people whom have had this same problem....thnx for your time anyway.

VNC may not allow a new connection if it still thinks that your old connection is active.

Try connecting to an additional port using vncviewer, ie:

dsl_box_ip_address:1

and see if you can get a connection.
