Looks like he has a newer nforce board. Maybe nforce3 or nforce4. I douldn't find the exact model of his board.
And evidently the forcedeth module that comes with DSL doesn't like his hardware, which also makes me think it's a nf3 or 4.
I'm no help with this, just basicly posting my thoughts and this horrible, horrible translation from german.
