Well, I posted in the user feed back forum that DSL resurected my old compaq 1220 laptop. The only problem was the internal winmodem would not be recognized. I didn't even try to get it to work due to other attempts on other distros.
Anyway, I was in a second hand shop tonight and saw a PCMCIA modem (USR XJ1560). Plugged it in, DSL saw it, and I'm now posting this on a laptap I thought was garbage!! Got lucky with the modem...bought it on a whim..lol.
Question...the ONLY way I can dial is to stop X, at the prompt type "pon", when message states I don't have rights, go "sudo pon" and then it works. ANY other way and the system just locks up and I have to reboot. Any idea why??
Thanks!
