I have a 3COM PC Card 3CCFEM656B w/WinModem that need a TTY config of COM port 5, IRQ 15, I/O 3F8.

My system is a Dell Latitude CPi R400GT; I can change the serial port to COM 1 thu COM 4, but I dont know how to change the default setting of the TTY console port in DSL 2.4.26 to dialout using the modem.

The card in seen in the cardmgr: CardBus hotplug device

Should I set serial option in the /etc/pcmcia/serial.opts or how do I use the card info in either:
/etc/pcmcia/config

When I try to dialout using the:
DSLpanel ->dialup -> ISP -> Dial then errors:
"insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ"

Your problems may be larger than what you think. If you have a Win(dows) modem, it must be one supported in Linux (a "Linmodem"). The drivers for these modems are kernel specific (and a real PITA, because if you change kernels you must install a new driver). Check http://www.linmodems.org for more information. My experience with 3coms and USR pcmcia winmodems are both bad. I've used a lot of different Linmodems on desktops, and it isn't worth the hassle, IMO. It really is easier to just get a pcmcia hardware modem, which will work out of the box.
Not Linux' fault--the blame lies with the hardware manufacturer's that provide only Windows drivers for their POS cards.
