Don't make the following mistake. I went to Wal-Mart to look for a modem. I found an internal modem made by some company called Stratitec. On the package, it said:
"For Windows® 98 or later" "For Linux® kernel 2.4 or later" "Plug-and-Play"
Once I opened the package, it had a link to their site about Linux setup instructions. That page referenced the ltmodem drivers. I just learned that it's another soft modem. From that experience, i'll never buy another internal modem again, especially one that says "controllerless" or "for Windows only".
This time, I'll do more research before I start buying another modem.
