AS a hobby I occasionally managed to get DSL running on older machines. Now I got this Dell Inspiron Laptop from work and just for fun I put in the DSL CD (downloaded current version ).... To my surprise it does not boot....

I tried acpi= off and nousb as described by evangineer but that does not help either....

Any suggestions ????

Describe the steps leading up to the failure. The more details, the better.

This is how far I got....
I make sure the machine boots from the CD.... works
I get the "preboot" (?) screen in which I can set boot options or just give Enter. From my experience I could just start DSL by pressing Enter....
Then the screen goes black.... and stays black....

Dell Inspiron 5160   1GB intern,  3 MHz.

I would really like to show off with DSL on my new workplace...

Try typing in:

failsafe

at the promp, and then press ENTER

or maybe:

dsl vga=normal xsetup

and then choose XVesa server and try some different resolutions like 640x480x16bit or 800x600x16bit.
