I have tried making a live cd of dsl 2.3 and booting up and it all goes well until the penguin appears in the top left corner of the screen and all the text starts appearing. What happens is is that it totally locks up when it says:

"Processor 0 is Pentium II (Deschutes) 266MHz 512KB Cache)"

I am not sure what to do!

Most toshibas that I've used DSL on require a boot code of 'nopcmcia'  if there is not a pcmcia card in the slot.  So try:

DSL nopcmcia

plus whatever other codes you need when you boot from the CD

dsl mem=32M

Where "32" is the size of your RAM in megabytes.

Also, "mem" is lowercase and the "M" at the end is uppercase.
