I have a Compaq Presario 1600. Its quite old, about 8 years (it was inherited from my aunty). I have tried to run the dsl live cd, with the intention of creating a bootable usb drive.
Neither the built-in trackpad or an external ps/2 mouse work. Seems to work fine in console although i am not familiar with linux command lines. I had the same problem with Feather Linux about a year ago, but no-one on their forum could help me.
The problem is this: the cursor will move horizontally with the trackpad, but up/down movement on the trackpad makes the cursor jump to the bottom of the screen, and the system cycles through workspaces. The external mouse has no effect.
