I went through the forum but I didn't find my solution (but I'm beginner).

I burned the CD (it works perfectly on my desktop computer) but on my Dell Latitude D610, I see the presentation screen of DSL, then:
- if I press Enter, I just see "load linux....." and "minind24......" then it freezes on a black screen.
- if I use the failsafe mode (or many other modes : vga, xconfig...), I see a little bit more and it freezes on :
schedule_task():keventd has not started
unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference

then

Code: Bad EIP value
<0>Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!

I also tried with the syslinux version but it doesn't change anything.

If anybody has any idea, I thank you for your help.

I had similar problems when trying to boot a DSL Lice CD on a Transport XPE.

The boot code that solved the problem for me was:

DSL vga=normal noscsi

Seems the noscsi was the key indgredient, since other options from
the menu produced blank screens over and over.

Good Luck

DSL 2.4
I try with dsl vga=normal and get the same error
Code: Bad EIP value
<0>Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!

I finally find the way after many trials by using:
dsl acpi=off

After that I can start DSL. However, network card is not recognized while it was with DSL 2.1b.
On DSL 2.1b, DSL stats -> net give:
FULLNAME="Unknown vendor|Generic tg3 device"
DRIVER="tg3"

On DSL 2.4, DSL stats -> net give:
FULLNAME="Broadcom Corporation|unknown device 14e4:1677"
DRIVER="unknown"

I try "sudo modprobe tg3" but get:
/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/net/tg3.o: init_module: No such device

Don't find something relative to network in dmesg and log file are all to 0 in /var/log (except wtmp)

DSL 2.1b was using kernel 2.4.31. Is this the reason why I did not succeed to make network board works on DSL 2.4 ?
