Hello.
I am trying DSL 3.0 on my Sharp PC9020 - Pentium, 32Mb RAM, no CD or Floppy drives.

I did a frugal install on it's harddrive from another PC (my desktop pc, I connected the notebook HD to the desktop and installed DSL there from the LiveCD there).

I can boot DSL on the PC9020, but when it comes to setup the X server, whatever options I choose to Xvesa, the Xserver freezes the whole system when starting.

I tried booting in framebuffer mode, but it says: 'you passed an undefined mode number' for any of the options, and then when trying to run the X server in framebuffer mode, it says it can't find fb0.

Since the laptop has a Trident video card, I tried manually loading the Tridentfb driver (modprobe tridentfb, it says it couldn't find the IRQ, but loads properly and sets at 640x480 resolution). If I try to startx then, the server loads, but hard freezes just as in the Xvesa mode.

What could be causing these freezes? I don't know how to proceed from here... any help is appreciated.

Note: I was running Win98 fine on this pc the whole time, so it can't just be a hardware fault.
