Hi,

I recently found an old laptop.  Its a toshiba tecra 8000.  125 mhz, 64 mbs ram, 1 gig hd... etc.  i managed to use dos to copy the knoppix folder of dsl 2.1 over to the hd, so it thinks it is the cd rom drive (because the laptop doesnt have an actual cd rom).

Now, I want to use my usb key to store files...

i plug in the usb key and it lights up, but i cant find it in the file browser.  does anyone know where it is or how i can mount it?  my key is a cruzer mini 256.

the laptop does not support usb booting

ps. im fairly new to linux, but i run fedora on another pc and am getting used to it...

thank to anyone who can help

scott g

USB's can typically be found as /mnt/sd*

If it's not detected by mount.app, you can use
Code Sample
mount /mnt/sdXx

mount: cant find /mnt/sdXx in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

for mount /mnt/sk1
mount: cant find /mnt/sd1 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

Sorry, Xx was to be replaced by whatever was listed in /mnt/sd*

Use ls /mnt/sd* to list them
then mount them according to the name.
