Hi!  Am trying to setup my Belkin Wireless G Notebook Card.

IBM Thinkpad 310ED
166 MHz
2Gig hard drive
32 Mb Ram
Frugal install of DSL 2.3

Belkin Wireless G card F5D7010 (Version 6000 <- yes 6000)

lspci - b
0000:01:00.0 Network controlled: RaLink: Unknown deive 0301

lspci -n
0000:01:00.0 0280: 1814:0301

On boot, card is listed as "NOT PRESENT", even though it physically is.

I've unsuccessfully "installed" (or so I thought) a couple of wrong drivers and need pointers on cleaning that up, as well as getting the card recognized and the correct driver.

Would appreciate any and all tips you have.

Thanks!

google shows: http://www.pclinuxonline.com/wiki/Ralink

Haven't heard of anyone using rt61 driver in DSL yet though.  Probably should try ndiswrapper first anyhow.

^thehatsrule^,
Thanks for pointing toward the right driver for my cards chipset - I found the rt61.inf in the Belkin directory and copied that to a CD.

I think I have other problems with setup than just the wrong .inf.

Lets see what happens now :)

I've installed the rt61.inf driver, but:

ndiswrapper -l
rt61 hardware present

There are no lights lit on this card, though both the power and activity lights "blink" when the laptop is booted.

Anyone have any ideas?

What did you do to set it up?

Quote from roberts:
Quote
$ sudo pump -i wlan0

The typical sequence of commands as root are:

# ndiswrapper -i your_cards.inf
# modprobe ndiswrapper
# iwconfig wlan0 key 99:99:99:99....  essid your_ssid_here
# pump -i wlan0

Or try the ndiswrapper GUI from the DSLpanel
