Any resolution chosen leaves a black border on the left and right side of  the screen.

All other Distros that I have tried automatically set up the screen on my Compaq Armada E500 at 1450? by whatever (can't remember - I'm no techie!) and the screen is completely filled.

I would be grateful if anyone could advise how to get any chosen screen resolution to actually fill the whole screen.

For simplicity of presentation (I guess I mean 'minimalism'), speed, package update and a host of other reasons .... DSL rocks!!

Thanks.

Try downloading and installing the full Xfree86 myDSL extension.

Don't forget to read the *.info file, because this is not a click-n-install type extension.
