After having read alot about DSL on other sites I decided it was time to try it out and get Win98 thrown away for good. I've tried a few other distros and live cd's but this laptop is just to old and slow for them.
Pentium 120mhz 144mb ram 2gb harddrive
I got the live cd running by using Smart Boot Manager, as the cdrom can't boot normally, but with SBM it worked great. Everything booted up and I was very surprised to see how great it looked. The graphics are very good, and it even seems to run faster than Win98. This is great. Thanks alot to everyone involved in the project.
There are just 2 things that don't work.
My soundcard - must be some onboard Toshiba thing. My TrendNet TEW-226PC wireless PCMCIA netcard.
Am I out of luck if it doesn't work automatically? If these to things worked I could finally throw Win98 away, but I realy need to be able to surf the net and play mp3's.
I am pretty much a linux newbie and don't know alot about fooling around manualy. But I can figure out almost everything as long as it can be done with the mouse and not by typing alot of codes.
Thanks very much in advance to anyone with ideas or suggestions :-)
