So, I checked out the Verified wireless cards in the wiki, and got myself a nice new D-Link DWL-G650+PCMCIA card...

duh, turns out it's 32-bit and the slots in my Toshiba Portege 660CDT are 16-bit, and I have a two-bit brain :p ...anyway; wireless or wired, what 16 bit network card/s do you use/recommend?

I'm using an AT&T 6700G wirless and a 3Com megabit wired in my Toshiba 480CDT, which I believe, is older than your 660CDT. They are both 32bit, but both work fine in this old laptop.
Also, here's some configuration info I found on the net:

The 16/32 bit that colsinc is referring to is the bus width of the pcmcia slots, not the network protocal. Gold contact on top versus no gold contact. Older cards will still work in newer slots, but not vice versa.

I recommend a Netgrar MA401 for wireless, and really anything for wired. I use an old Linksys Etherpro 10/100 and an ancient 3com 10baseT. Both work fine.

Hi all,

thanks for the replies, I think I'll go with just a wired one, it seems to be hard enough to get any 16 bit cards at all.  might have to try ebay.

Well if you change your mind and go wireless, I would also recommend the  Netgear MA401. Mine just died, but it served me well for many years and it didnt give me any trouble in linux.
