Diskless Mini-ITX Silent Computer System

This setup is a very inexpensive means of exploring Mini-ITX systems. The Epia-5000 is capable of network booting, or you can try my preferred method of booting off of a USB pen.

Later if you want to add an IDE device, such as a CD drive, a traditional hard drive, or an IDE/CF setup, the Morex 3688 has all the necessary hardware. This is an interesting way to run a computer. The USB pen works like a hard drive, and you can literally walk away from your PC with your critical data safe in your pocket. In addition, you can boot DSL in "toram" mode, remove the USB pen and have a completely silent and super-efficient diskless computer run without any information permanency.

This setup includes:
-1 Morex 3688 (including power supply and all standard attachments)
-1 Via Epia 5000
-256MB PC100 SDRAM RAM

Please note, that the offering for this unit are very close to our next generation 533MHz fanless Mini-ITX. Though the processors are the same MHz, the performance of the new motherboard is much improved. You may want to consider looking at the new unit, it does not come with RAM, but with the prices of ram these days you will still save with the price at $225. Eventually the computer on this page will be phased out as it is a very similar offering to the 533MHz fanless Mini-ITX.
