Installing DSL on a Toshiba Libretto 100CT

This page will describe the peculiarities of installing DSL on a Toshiba Libretto 100CT. These procedures should be identical for a Libretto 110CT and may apply to other members of the family.

The Libretto 100CT contains the following hardware[1]:

Video: Neomagic 2160

Sound: Yamaha OPL3 SA3

The latest BIOS for the system is V8.10 (hold down <esc> while powering on to access the BIOS). At the present time (24/10/06) V8.00 & V8.10 of the BIOS are not properly supported by the torsmo v0.17 system stats application for reporting the battery state - Torsmo v0.18 works OK, but the battery name in torsmorc needs to be changed to MBAT. You need the gcc complier with development libraries to complile v0.18 as available from sourceforge.

To sucessfully boot DSL you need to use the boot parameter vga=808. In xsetup.sh select Xfbdev & you'll get the display at 800x480 with 24 bit colour. See Vga=xxx for further details.

For sound you need to put:

modprobe opl3 io=0x388

modprobe opl3sa2 io=0x370 mss_io=0x530 mpu_io=0x330 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 ymode=2 isapnp=0 multiple=0

into /opt/bootlocal.sh

There may be a problem with accessing all of the volume controls if you are using an older version of DSL (pre 2.4). The L100 uses 2 separate mixer devices. In DMIX you should see a total of 13 channels which you can control. If you don't you won't be able to contol the master volume, bass, treble, momo mic (the built in one), or digital input (not sure what this is, but it's listed as a channel if you do 'umix -q' in a terminal window)
