That's why I want to point to some problems when doing "advanced" things with DSL version 1.0.1. First I used the boot mode F3. There is a little typo: it should be 1024x768 and not 10214x768 or something (a number like this). The hd-installation worked fine (even my Win98 system is still available; unfortunately other Linux distro installations cannot do so)! But when I wanted to shutdown my computer after using the HD-installed DSL there is shown "KNOPPIX halted" in green letters after "sending Kill signal......" and so on. This should be "DSL halted". (is it possible to show "Now you can turn off your PC"? My PC didn't turn off automatically, and when pressing the power button to early the PC freezes and I cannot press the power button (it didn't work)! I only could reboot my PC with the reboot button. Only when waiting until the PC/HD is getting a bit more silent (sleep mode?) the power button works! A message would be great to know when someone is allowed to push the power button) Software: I wanted to have the newest and safest version of Firefox. Therefore I had to install 1.0PR (i do not know why, but installing 1.0.3 instantly didn't work) by using MyDSL (a really great and easy way of getting software!). Now I was able to install Firefox 1.0.3 with the installer of firefox-browser.de. It worked fine, even üöäÜÖÄ, but I could not type in [{\²³~ when using Firefox 1.0.3. So I tried to type in my text in Beaver. But when using Beaver I recognized that I cannot type in üöäÜÖÄ (as a German user of DSL with the de-Latin1-nodeadkeys key map)! But [{\²³~ was working on Beaver!? Strange, isn't it? So I considered installing Abiword with the help of MyDSL. First there was a checksum error. On the second run it worked out. But I had to notice that Mozilla Firefox was not working any more (no version, not 0.9, not 1.0PR and not 1.0.3) . When trying to start Firefox out of emelFM (as superuser) a message containing "...pango error..." was shown! --- I hope you can help me with this problems, and I hope I can help you to improve this auspicious distro! --- Melancholie |
