Ive tried installing this the same as Flash 7 but won't work in DSL 1.4.

Ive read there are additional libraries needed:

Im not a Linux guru.. anyone know if this will be supported in DSL?

If it requires gtk2 then it will not work in DSL base. It may work with the gtk2 mydsl extension installed.

So far this sounds like garbage.
I'll be hoping for some advancements in gnash as a replacement for it, but in the meantime sticking with v7 =o)
