1. If I install KDE or Gnome on my armada 1700 (a kinda old laptop), how much will it affect the performance of the machine?
2. Which one of them is best for me? (I want the one with best performance and user-friendlyness)
3. How do I install them via cd? |

1. They're both resource hogs, though KDE is the worst. I wouldn't use them on an old machine.
2. Both are touted as user-friendly. KDE is very similar to default Windows, so it'd probably have the easiest learning curve. It also has more options.
3. No clue. If you can't use JWM or Fluxbox for whatever reason, then yopu'd probably be better off grabbing Knoppix or Ubuntu. |
