This might seem obvious, but remember to switch your Bluetooth device on before starting (enabled in BIOS, software & hardware switch)
[load the bluetooth utilities or bluez-utils.dsl once I post it]
#apt-get install bluez-utils
[Load the required modules]
# modprobe hci_usb
# modprobe rfcomm
[Check details of your local Bluetooth device]
# hcitool dev
