X and Fluxbox :: Fluxbox_0.9.11

I'm using 0.9.2. I have a floppy install, so I'm not changing versions anytime soon. I installed this new fluxbox version, and everything is bigger, which sucks because I have a small res. There is also thin white lines around everything, which makes everything look terrible. Even when I use transparency, the white lines are nontransparent. To try to fix these problems, I looked through the init file for anything having to do with fonts. Nothing, except for antiantilizing, which is disabled. Yesterday, I tried to install the Artwitz(sp?) fonts. No luck. The font size doesn't change when I switch themes. I will post before(old fluxbox) and after(new ver.) screenshots of my desktop today, so you can see for yourself.

Okay, thanks for the screenshots.  That helps a lot.

Something went wacky with the font itself rather than the font size.  In your first screenshot you're using 'fixed', which is a standard terminal font.  In the second screenshot you have some serif thingy...I don't know what it is exactly but it's definitely an entirely different font.

I saw the same font yesterday while messing with fluxbox in DSL.  I'm not sure if this applies, but in my case it had to do with trying to use a style with a typo in the path.  I guess it just used a default font or something.  Fixing the path in init fixed my problem.

I recommend checking the init to see if the proper style file is listed, and after that checking the style file itself to see if it's using a font which exists on your system.

I'm pretty new with DSL and Linux. How do I find out which fonts are already installed on my system? And, yes, now that I look at theme both side by side I can see that the size is not only different, by the actual font as well.
you can use the xfontsel application....I'm sure there are other ways, but I've never been an expert on fonts.

I tested a couple of things with flux-0.9.11 today....one was to load a style with no font specified.  This resulted in fluxbox using fixed.  The other test was to load a style with a non-existent font (listed a font in the style, but it didn't really exist).  This resulted in some large font being used.  It wasn't the same one, but was definitely larger.
