Other Help Topics :: Will DSL Live CD connect to net w Netzero?

Hi everyone :) As some of you know I had a soundcard issue on the HP which is no more because now I can run DSL on the Dell. I was wondering, could I possibly get online under DSL using Netzero and if anyone knows how I could could they give me some info on getting online? Thanks everyone:) Oh I almost forgot, when I load DSL on this comp, the Dell, it gives me a message saying 001(not exact num)x.7p not available because of resources collisions. Is this anything significant? Sorry to be asking a dumb question.
It's not a dumb question.
Getting online is a matter of having the right driver module for the modem you have. I don't know anything about NetZero but as a rule the provider does'nt matter.

Post back w/ the details on your modem and whether you see the modem mentioned on boot or by running dmesg
Also if it's internal run lspci

If it's a Winmodem you're in for some fun to get it going but it can be done.
I have'nt seen that eror message before, maybe an irq conflict?

Hi roadie,

I'm going to try those techniques in a few minutes. Thanx :) The modem we have is a BCM v.92 according to the hardware profile. I'm gonna see what I can do w/it. I'll post more on here as I learn more. Thanks again:)

I don't know about the BCM v.92 but it sounds like a Winmodem.

There is a source file here for it from Dell but you're looking at compiling it and for that you need GCC and probably the kernel headers.
You could try a search for binaries

I did say it might be fun

Hey roadie, I got a message like this yesterday from the dmesg screen. Lspci didn't work but I figure the message relates to the modem:

Redundant entry in Serial pci table. Please send output of lspci - vv, this message(14e4,4212,1028,0001) and the manufacturer and name of serial board or modem board to serial-pci-info@lists.sourceforge.net. Register_serial() : autoconfig failed

I'm taking a guess that this is more than likely a winmodem too. Perhaps I should send the message to the above address but I don't know. Also, should I go into PPPConfig? I went in there yesterday and it asked me to give the dialing info so I went in there and put our internet info like password, etc. It asked me to choose from com1-com4 ports before that. Should I be in PPPConfig or is ModemConfig the right one to be in first? Thanks Roadie for the linkage, I'll check that out and see what I find. I appreciate the help :)
