Apps :: help with Slypheed

im new to DSL so please forgive the stupid question...can anyone tell me if you can set up slypheed to work with yahoo mail?

You have to have a pop-accessible (premium) yahoo account. They have their own help pages that give their particular settings.

ok i created a gmail account and set it up with the right settings (i think..pretty much did how gmail said too) i can see whats in my inbox and trash can easy enough but when i send mail it freezes at "connecting"....if you change any of the settings it gives you an error message so i assume im on the right track...has anyone else had this problem?

Does it "freeze" at "connecting" or does it eventually time out not finding the server?

Show us your configuration for smtp in Sylpheed.

it eventually times out..the settings for smtp are
server: smtp.gmail.com
SMPT authentication checked yes with username and password
STARTTLS checked yes
port 465
Generate message ID and add date header feild checked yes
protcoal POP3 normal
ive tried playing with the settings and that usually just gets me some sort of error message..at least i can still see whats in my inbox
