unable to read dev/sdb
will have to find help on saveing added .dsl..
thanks for any
the issue is no fault of dsl but my lack of knowledge....when I boot winxp and plug the pen in it is blank and works fine for storage so I need to know how to do more than format it I need to delete the win partition I think to clear it for dsl install then learn how to do back up restore...will do some reading on that
any one know how I can delete the win or fix the pen
will try a google
thanks
Oh well..so much for the pen idea...maby another time
I did the USB pen drive install and tried to get it to boot with a floppy and it wouldn't boot. So I tried the pen drive script again and it still didn't work. I gave up and reformated the floppy and the floppy tool said the disk was bad. I used a new disk and it booted fine.
Anyway I didn't have a problem exactly like yours but you can run the pen drive install script again and that might fix it. It didn't hurt my USB drive when I reinstalled. The install script seems to reformat the pen drive. You could try the zip install and then run fdisk to change your left over partition.
Thanks for responding
I attempted several reinstalls and the pen seems to be an issue but works fine for win storage...will pick up another pen next time I go shopping.
I must have damaged it for linux..it seemed to work the first time...can not delete the partition..or do not know how...it is not an available option in winxp and dsl fdisk does not recognize either...sorry...think I am repeating myself...just mystified and eager to get dsl and adds to a pen....want to run instead of win online ...it is faster than the p166 with dsl2.4 I'm currently useing...when I figure it out I will download the newer version for a fresh pen...:0
