USB booting :: USB boot compatability list

USB's thats works fine with DSL:

- Crystal Disk "Rambo" 128 mb
- BLIZZO USB Flash Disc (all)

To use this Flash, use de script dsl-usbinstall.

Key dane-elec 256 Mo :

works fine with shinux, very easy to install, and fast, but i do not like shinux, and decided to try damnsmall, wich appeared to be much better (to me) AND with much more GPL/GNU spirit respect,

But i had MANY probs booting  damnsmall on it (as usb-zip booting)

As  a mater of fact i unzipped  dsl 1.1 embeded on the first fat partition  (128 Mo) and after  one  week of  cooking, it ended booting ONCE, worked fine,
and at first reboot told me "unable to find KNOPPIX image"...........

hello,
hp pavilion zv5160us p4 2.8ghz, 1gb ram, 60gb hd
great quality gq3121 (dirt cheep desktop, 99usd) amd sempron2200+(1.5ghz), 384mb ram, 40gb hd

both systems boot dsl-1.0.1 using syslinux-2.11
from:
lexar 128mb jumpdrive,
kingston 256mb data traveler

ASUS P4P800 SE - BIOS Version 1004.003

Lexar Sport 512mb USB

I had to turn off USB Hi-Speed (2.0) in the BIOS. When it was enabled, the knoppix image could not be found.

I won't read this topic completely to make sure it's not already posted, so I'm just adding my info:

MOBO: ASUS A7V8X-X
USBPEN: KINGSTON DataTraveler 512MB
also works on my DELL Inspiron 510m

tried DSL on my MPMAN FUB-28 mp3 player which worked on my DELL (see above) after changing the 'online mode' of it to 'normal only'. On the ASUS A7V8X-X this didn't boot, it wasn't recognized. Also a larger FAT partition was needed to be able to play any songs so I altered the script (search posts)
