USB booting :: USB pendrive Kernel Panic
Dear Forums,
i have a question here, i tried to install DSL on a pendrive, i followed the procedures and completed (or it seems )
but... when i tried to test and booted it, dsl was half completed and showed me error kernel panic
can you help me point me up where did i do wrong on install?
thanks
Miftah
PS: i tried pendrive install and usbhdd install, on sda and sda1
but all not working
I am having the exact same problem. I think that installation to a usb drive is completely broken. The usb key boot correctly and the logo is shown. Then it goes through the process of loading the usb modules, and then the kernel panics because programs such as cp and awk could not be found. The file KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX on the usb key will absolutely not mount no matter what I have tried. So any ideas if the installation is broken? I have also tried installing it as a usb-zip but same result.
I got same result. Kernel panic. Tried both on usbzip, usbhdd
It seems to me that your KNOPPIX file must be corrupted somehow.
Try manually copying the /KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX file over from your CDROM to your USB key and overwrite the original file and then try booting again.
I too, am having the exact problem as shown in the above screenshot. I did the overwrite of the Knoppix file from my live-CD to my USB drive, but it still has the same problem.
Would this be a problem with this version of DSL?
