USB booting :: building DSL from Linux
I got a current dsl.iso from the repos. I simply want to install DSL onto my USB-Stick. I also loaded the pendrive-usb module and hoped to have everything ready for building. I ant to build it out of Suse Linux 9.3. So I prepared the pendrive-module and started the shell-script. I started the installation but on process The seput displayed "dsl.lua" not fount and "command rotbash not found". The installation was complete anyway, but it didn`t make any attempt to boot. Is it possible to build from Suse Linux?
I don't know if i understand what you are trying to do. It sounds to me like you are trying to put the iso on a pendrive. You may be making it a little harder for yourself.
This is what i would do, burn a cd by using the cd image (iso) and then boot off the CD. When the boot screen appears press F3 and then type in install (i think it is F3, but it might be F2) an install screen comes up and you just select the option for USB drive and it will install it for you. It doesn't get easier then that.
Maybe I am not one of the very blessed people, but I even failed to burn the Iso to a bootable CD. I thought using the Linux "Installer would be easier, but I will try to create a bootable CD anyway now. For what reason could I have failed? I simply used the Option to burn an Image onto CD (Nero 6). I also tried CDBurnerXP. And failed. What to do for making myself less trouble?
Start Nero 6
Cancel out of the Nero Express wizards to get back to the regular Nero screen.
Choose
Recorder -> Burn Image
from the top menu.
Did you md5sum the iso?
if nothing else, since you are in linux anyway, use cdrecord to burn the CD.
