DSL Embedded :: knoppix image not found?

followed the instructions on the wiki to install dsl to a usb drive but it doesn't work it boots to syslinux when i press enter it loads and boots the kernel but it tells me "knoppix image not found, sorry dropping you to a command shell.
i use a segate 6 gig flashdrive and a fat32 partition and syslinux 3.11 and dsl 3.0.1 . i have tried from-hd= and it does not seem to work. i have a scsi hard drive and usb key board and mouse(they freeze at the command shell).

[edit] also i am using a dell e510 but it seems to not work on any computer...come up with a boot menu with F12 and i select  boot from usb device

am i forgeting something noobish or is it something else...
please help

it's fromhd=/dev/sdXx where /dev/sdXx is your usb device.  You could also try 'fromusb' instead.

USB set up properly? There's different guides around.. some work for some usbkeys+machines while others don't.  Make sure your system is compatible with booting by USB-HDD or USB-ZIP (or both?).

i dont think it would boot the kernel if it wasn't set up to for usb-hdd, also i don't know what device the kernel is setting my usb drive to or if its even recognizing it
Hi sai_rabbit!

I suggest you try dsl-embedded and follow the instructions in the readme-file to boot.

Have fun,
meo

these are the instructions i used instructions

i removed quiet from the syslinux.cfg and the only error i got

/usr/sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter: failed to load

or something to that effect
