DSL Tips and Tricks :: How do I save my settings with the live CD
I'm kinda baffled on how to save settings, app extensions, etc to my DSL.
It seems like everytime I fire up DSL it reverts back to it's original form, and I can't keep the settings I give it.
My other box is FC4, so I sort of take this sort of stuff for granted.
Any help would be appreciated! You know that window full of information that pops open when you boot DSL. You know the one that you must instanly close Well, its called "Getting Started" and there it is actually explained! Saving Your Configuration: and myDSL - Seamless Extensions for DSLWow! What A concept! Thanks...Actually that help file, or the "getting started" doesnt really explain how to save the settings. In laymans erm, can you be more specific, like a how to...? Thnaks much appreciation.

If you want to save your settings, there is a "Backup/Restore" button in the menu (under "System" maybe?) that will save a copy of whatever is in your ~/.filetool list to whatever you specify as your backup device.
If I remember correctly, you don't need to include the full path of the device. IE, "sda" will work for a USB instead of "/dev/sda1".
If you want to add something to your filetool list, there is a simple button push solution if you open up Emelfm and mash the Add2Filetool button.
Keep in mind that I'm new to DSL and I'm recalling all this from memory (I'm on my Windows box right now), but play around with it and see what comes up.Next Page...
