Multimedia :: playing CD using xmms

First, boot up DSL by using the "dsl toram" boot command and then try:

/dev/cdrom

/dev/sdc0

/dev/sdc1

for audio CD devices.

Thanks for the input. Let me try it here.
Since I had DSL embedded on my HD, I would boot up DSL normally.
Then I should run xterminal, by typing in

dsl toram

follow by..

/dev/cdrom

/dev/sdc0

/dev/sdc1

for audio CD devices.

I hope Im getting this right.
Sorry for such naive question, I'm really new to Linux and I would love to master the programe eventually.
Thank you all..

BTW I've read something about mounting devices...is that one of the reasons?

You don't need to "mount" an audio CD to play music.

In fact, you shouldn't try to mount it and I don't think that you can listen to music while the cdrom device is being used for other purposes.

You should try those device names (one at a time) in your xmms setup under the definition for your cdrom device.

You could also try symlinking them to the "/dev/cdrom" filename if you do not have anthing defined as your "/dev/cdrom".

Also, the cdrom location may change due to the "toram" option.

Try /cdrom2

instead of /cdrom

It might work.

Thanks and will give it a go later.

cheers!!
