Laptops :: Kernel Panic booting DSL 3.3 on Dell Latitude D610

I cannot get DSL 3.3 to boot on my Dell Latitude D610 laptop.  It boots great on my Dell Inspiron 1200 laptop.

In "normal" dsl boot modes, I get the dsl splash screen where I enter the boot/cheat codes as needed.  Then the kernel loads, then screen goes black forever.  When I boot in "failsafe" mode, i get the following...

 Bad EIP Value.
Kernel Panic: Attempted to kill init!

Any ideas?

Thank you for your reply.
Still not working.  I tried every "no---" cheat code (noscsi, noacpi, nousb, noagp, noapm, nomce, noddc,...) that I can find, and still no go.  Same error code.  Any other ideas?

Some report using noacpi and/or acpi=off might work
I had the same problem with a Dell Latitude D620.  Got past it with acpi=off, but now I can't seem get DSL to recognize the USB flash drive.

I'm trying to create a bootable USB flash drive using a Kingston DataTraveler 2.0 GB Drive.

I'm a total Noob when it comes to Linux, who is still trying to unlearn Microsoft habits, so any help would be appreciated.
