Laptops :: Toshiba Satellite Pro 480 CDT with DSL
The first test with DSL and my old Toshiba Satellite Pro 480 CDT notebook failed.
The boot procedure runs from CD-ROM until DSL says
"Processor 0 is Mobile Pentium MMX 233MHz". Then everything stops and does not keep on booting.
Does anybody know what the problem is and what can be done? I must confess that I have absolutely NO EXPERIENCE with Linux. Hope someone can help!?
Edit:
I discovered the possibility in the failsafe mode. It boots. Most likely it is the LAN PC Card (3com 3c589D-Combo) which DSL does not like during the boot procedure
are you using the syslinux or isolinux version?

I am getting something similar on my Toshiba Portege 7200
laptop. It gets to:
"Process 0 is Pentium III (Coppermine) 646Mhz. 256KB cache"
and then freezes there.
I have tried the DSL NO APM and DSL TORAM options...
Anybody know what could help...I really want my gf laptop to have wireless access without going into windows. XP seems sluggish with the 192MB of RAM...I think DSL would fare better!

Yesterday I tried to install the latest version of Knoppix as an alternative. It works fine, even with the LAN PC card. I get network connection, but the original Knoppix seems to be a bit too big for my old notebook. It runs real slow! So I will keep on with my DSL and try to get it running. The fact that Knoppix runs supports me
