Laptops :: Toshiba Satellite Pro 480 CDT with DSL

If you can't get DSL to work, try:

knoppix desktop=fluxbox

and knoppix will run faster.

Thanks for this one! Now Knoppix runs quite nicely. With kernel 2.4 it stalled again, then I chose kernel 2.6 together with fluxbox, and now it does fine. Still it is a bit slow, but, well ... it´s okay for me.

P.S.
Problem solved: DSL runs at last. I downloaded this version: <<dsl-1.0rc1-syslinux.iso>> and now everything is close to perfect!

I've had good luck with Libranet 2.8.1 on my Toshiba Satellite pro 440cdt (P-133 w/8o Mb of RAM).  I've got a minimal install with selected packages added; it's no rocket, but it's basically an MP3 player for my car, and it works quite well for that, it's setup to get music over my LAN from my server.
I found with my Toshiba 480CDT I had to type "NOPCMCIA" on the boot command line when booting from the live CD.  Took me ages to figure out that the next boot check after the processor was the PCMCIA card.

Once installed on the HD it seems to work ok.

Hobbesian has it...   On at least one older Toshiba, DSL hung after the processor check.  Adding the NOPCMCIA boot option did the trick for me.  The good news is that once you get past that the sound chip and video chip seem to work just fine for DSL (version 1.4.0)

Good luck
