Title: D-link Airplus DWL-650+ wireless net card
Post by: jrc on August 08, 2012, 07:53:59 PM
I have an old Toshiba 4015CDT. DSL loads so far, except wireless card. I am doing a live cd test first. The card is supposed to be OoB as per wiki documents, unless it is not the same card. I did lspci and tells me TI ACX100.

I have another wireless card, Linksys WPC54G V1.2. It tells me is Broadcom.

Can anyone help me on making any of these cards to work.

I found on the old forum a work around for the sound card (yamaha opl3sx).

Do i need to do a hd install in order to make it work?

I have been testing Linux Distros on and off for some time. So far I like DSL because it runs smoother in old hardware.

BTW - if anyone has to boot a laptop like mine use fb800x600 dsl noacpia acpi=off, this boot option will give the usb ports available to the laptop.

Looks like there is no native support for D-Link DWL-650+, but people have reported WPC54G as working.

OK. Am I missing something? D-link DWL-650+ pcmia card is OoB supported. Please look again. So is it or not?. Regarding the Linksys card. Can any one point me in the right direction on how to obtain all the components that I need in order to use it?. I have tried to get the drivers, but I am clueless where to look. I have been reading the how to but I guess I am too new to Linux

Ok. I was able to get the windows driver and use ndiswrapper to load. When I do "ndiswrapper -l", it tells me the hardware is present. But when I type "modprobe netcard" it tells me no module loaded. I read that I am supposed to put the windows firmware in a firmware directory. Well, I do not know what it would be the firmware and I cannot find the firmware directory. Any help?
BTW-The ndiswrapper directory has all the .bin, .sys and .inf files installed. I did rename the .inf file to netcard.inf (it was airplus.inf)

Sorry to say this. I moved to Puppy Linux. Installed driver and works.
