I started to use xscreensaver to lock my GUI. However once I run xscreensaver daemon, the screen blanking (that worked before in console and GUI modes alike) stops working. The xscreensaver it just runs these screen-saver graphical apps. in a loop and never ever blanks. I think this is because power management is not supported or disabled in BIOS (this is not your standard PC mobo - it is a PC/104 standard industrial PC compatible SBC - Single Board Computer). If this is the case, then I wonder how the console blanking works when xscreensaver daemon is not working and why xscreensaver is disabling the screen blanking? Title: Re: xscreensaver and screen blanking Post by: CNK on January 15, 2015, 11:10:39 PM Perhaps you could compile Slock (http://tools.suckless.org/slock/), or maybe even SlimLock (http://joelburget.com/slimlock/) if the dependancies aren't too incompatible. They don't offer their own screenblanking systems, so shuldn't disable ther kernel one.
I guess the xscreensaver blanking settings don't work because your motherboard doesn't spport power management? But I'm looking forward for the ATV4 app.
