The current stable version of glibc is 2.16.

Seems that the version inside Dsl is 2.3.2, released 01 March 2003

If you really decide to "update", start with 2 library in the next Release candidate, (before Maya new era) and continue...

Is this newer version any bigger...

I would guess that is why the one in DSL is older, when working with 50MB newer libraries are rare :P
