Ronfleur, Xvesa is the same from the previous version -- there should be no difference.  Perhaps there is a clash with the data backup?
5  Damn Small Linux / User Feedback / Re: DSL-N -> DSL-DVD maybe? on: October 26, 2012, 12:37:27 AM
Interesting idea Ryan, thanks!

There are limitations to apt in DSL.  You may have better luck by downloading the .debs and installing them manually with dpkg.

dpkg -i --force-all  file.deb

Thanks Peppe76, I'll look into it.

Often when there is a USB mouse issue it could be fixed by "enabling USB devices", or  setting "legacy USB support" in your bios.  Also, try to have the mouse be the only device plugged into the USB ports and see if that helps.

Yeah, there are a few versions in there.
11  Damn Small Linux / Other Help Topics / Re: Firefox on DSL 4.11 on: September 30, 2012, 01:37:09 AM
The version of FF that is in DSL is the last available which is compatible with GTK1.2, anything newer will require GTK2 and related dependencies.   The lib requirements go up quite a bit.  I am in the process of mapping out a bigger DSL with a larger, more modern lib base for those who want something a little more modern/larger.

Ronfleur, just in case you missed the other thread, I posted a syslinux version of dsl-4.11rc2.

Wow, that's sort of an open ended question.  I guess the first place to start would be to make sure your older desktop's bios  is setup to boot from CD, stick the CD in, press the power button and see what happens.  DSL has auto-hardware detection that works well with older computers, so with any luck you should have a basic Linux desktop to mess around with.

Fixed apt-restore.  Updated default mirror to the ftp link as it has been more reliable.  Removed some unused files to tighten up the iso a bit.  For this rc I've added a syslinux version as requested.

15  Damn Small Linux / DSL Ideas and Suggestions / Your favorite lightweight apps? on: September 27, 2012, 01:25:14 AM
I am in the process of building a new version of DSL and I'm reevaluating the application selection.  If you are a fan of a lightweight app and would like to see it in the next version of DSL list it here.
