1  Damn Small Linux / Laptops / Re: Wireless not working with DLINK dongle on USB on: December 08, 2012, 07:51:47 PM
I dont understand why my wireless card is not recognised as during boot up it says:
USB found - managed by HOTPLUG
Then it says:
FireWire found - managed by HOTPLUG

When I use the WLcardconfig routine to set up the wireless it returns with  "No Wireles Network card found"
until I can get it to recognise my wireless card I cannot download the apps from "My DSL"

Any suggestions?  The Toshiba Laptop does not have an ethernet connection so I cannot wire it straight in to my router

The dongle is a DLINK DW 140 range booster and it works fine with puppy linux and Ubuntu both of which are too big for this old laptop.

The lsusb output is:

Code:
Bus 001 Device 002 ID 07d1:3c0a D-Link System
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

so DSL seems to know it is connected but comes back from Wlanconfig with "No wireless network card found"

I found how to install to my hard disk and the installation boots up fine on the old Toshiba laptop but it will still not see the wireless dongle on the USB port. Any suggestions?

On an ancient Toshiba satellite pro 4200 with only 64MB RAM and 500 od MHz clock I can boot up the live CD but it will not see the Wireless dongle plugged into the USB. any suggestions?

MyDSL shows the box with various buttons but the apps just brings up an empty popup.

The Wlan button under DSLpanel can't find my dongle on the USB.

How do I get DSL to install to the hard disk so I can boot from that.

Thanks
