John,

Are there any plans of updating Bon Echo to something more contemporary? Firefox version 2 is pretty old.

You should be able to now by going to your profile and licking on "Look and Layout Preferences."  In there you'll see a Time Offset feature.

Aha! I knew SMF had those options. Thanks for adding those, John.

John,

After looking around the forum a bit, I saw your link to the boot cheat codes. I think the dsl sata cheatcode will work with a SATA drive, but I'll have to check it. You may already know whether it will or not.

EDIT: I tried booting in VirtualBox with a SATA drive in port 0. The cheat code used was dsl sata. I tried all three previously mentioned isos with the same boot parameters, but none would boot with a SATA drive attached. It could have something to do with how VirtualBox defines the (pseudo) controller.

If this is in the wrong area, please move it. I can't seem to find the option in my forum settings to set my local timezone. Did I overlook it?

djohnston, I have no experience with virtualbox, but judging from this url it looks like the KNOPPIX file needs to be uncompressed.

John,

The URL you're pointing to has links for compressed and uncompreesed disk images. (I had to delete the embedded link in order to post this.) My problem is, (now was), booting from the iso file. I tried the latest KNOPPIX, which of course, has the KNOPPIX image file in the iso. It boots just fine. I then tried to boot from the dsl-4.4.10.iso and from the dsl-4.4.10-initrd.iso with no success.

However, the solution to my problem was very simple. Since mrmango wasn't forthcoming with any information, the problem was that VirtualBox had assigned a SATA hard drive to the VM. After deleting it and creating a PATA drive, the 4.11.RC1 iso booted quickly to the desktop using the default options. I don't know if this has ever come up before, but that was the solution in my case.

The live CD boots and runs great on my PentiumIII. I was surprised to see a 2.4 kernel. However, I cannot get it to boot in VirtualBox. I have tried several different combinations of VirtualBox configurations, along with DSL boot parameters. minirt24.gz is successfully uncompressed. The boot process is hanging at booting the kernel.
