Intel PRO wireless driver ipw2100 is not included, and, of course, XVesa cannot do 1400x1050
It is a laptop, Step-5 Pentium-M 1395mhz, 502mb RAM

Have you looked at the wiki for framebuffer modes: http://damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/vga_xxx.html

The wireless card should work with ndiswrapper :http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/ndiswrapper/index.php?joomla/index.php

I booted it in the most recent virtualbox twice and it hanged after 10 or so minutes while using firefox.
I booted it a third time, changed the video memory from 5mb to 32mb and it seems to be ok. It was runnig for 27 minutes.
I closed it and opened it again and it's been ok.
I also installed no-ip from mydsl.

It has 128mb ram assigned and no harddisk. It's running on a 2.80 pentium D.
That's all my troubleshooting sorry I don't have anything more specific.

Just booted the .ISO into Virtual Box... runs great... haven't tried any installs yet. Sadly, I don't have any hardware to test on.

128MB RAM
8MB VRAM
Ethernet works great.
I set the machine properties to "Linux, Linux 2.4" just to be safe.

EDIT: Just did a HDD install following the instructions on the old Wiki. Seems to be working great. 2GB Virtual HDD.

 Thanks John.

I installed it, but I have a problem when I try to open a program, immediately close.

What settings would I need to boot this in virtualbox? I tried a lot of fiddling butt no matter what I do it hangs at the black screen with the tux logo (I left it for quite a while and saw no change.) I'll try on my laptop as soon as my power cable is returned to me..

Hello,

I have a 4.4.10 hard drive DSL working decently on an old HP Omnibook 6000 (Pentium III) with 256M of RAM.
I use a WiFi key from Hamlet, HNWU254G_RTL that works also nice. I struggled a little bit to have it working because I am not a linux expert. I am also using a USB port extension from Hamlet and a wireless mouse from Trust that get recognised easily. I did some configuration work on that installation that I like.
I would like to try 4.11RC2.
Is it possible to upgrade without loosing the current configuration or I will need to start from the scratch?

Thanks.
Victor

Live CD on Dell Latitude CPx, Pentium III

CPU : Coppermine

Net : 3COM 10 / 100 LAN CardBUS

Everything working right out of the box, running smoothly.

Thanks for a nice, easy to use, non bloated, OS.
