Hey folks,

I've got an old Toshiba Libretto L5... And been trying to get something a little... smoother running on it.

Unfortunately, I don't have the rare USB-bootable drives for it (It was a very picky system about that...) nor any form of PC-Card that's bootable. And doing a hdd swap to install is... not really an option as the hdd is sorta forcaged into the damn thing.

I've managed to PXE install Windows XP and Ubuntu on it before using tftpd32... but am not sure how/if damn small can be set up for this. (Sadly, I installed a far too recent version of Ubuntu, and it reeeealy doesn't like the 800Mhz Crusoe... nothing practical, even installing another os can be done from that.)
Should take good ol DSL pretty snappily I imagine. 512MB ram, 60GB HDD... Radeon Mobile. XD Yes thats the ORIGINAL Radeon Mobile.

Anyone know the steps to setup DSL for PXE Install? From windows, in particular would be nice. I have TFTPD32 around..

If you can get your hands on a USB CD drive, that might be worth a try. I used one to install DSL on a notebook a few years newer than yours. Sadly only to give up thanks to lack of drivers afterwards.

Sadly, the Libretto L5 has exceptionally picky USB boot support, only works with a very small selection of drives that were mostly not sold in the USA. So not really an option.

I actually have all the drivers for it from an old fanforum for the series ^.^'...

Well I've never had anything to do with PXE booting, but if I were you, I would try installing DOS and then using Loadlin.
See here, you'll have to skip the first step, of course:

I haven't done this before with DSL, though I have with another distro and it worked quite well. You can install a WIndows with DOS such as Win 95/98, boot into DOS and it should work from that.
