If the iBook is bootable from the usb port and the filesystem of the pendrive is recognizable for the iBook can I suspect that it may boot on this machine or it has to have its' own quirks for the PPC?

Thanks in advance for any info on the above! Hope the forum is still active...

Unfortunately I don't believe any release of DSL has been made for the PowerPC platform. It isn't compatible with x86 PC binaries.

You're only option would be to use Qemu (http://damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/qemu.html), but then you wouldn't get the normal speed of DSL because it would be running in an emulated environment.

The Embedded release of DSL is for Qemu, but I don't think it has an Apple OS executable. Might be worth checking though.

At least there are a number of other free OSs still carrying PowerPC versions, including a good few Linux distros.
