How would I install?

Hello.
So I need to install DSL on this old Pentium II laptop with 128MB RAM. The problem is that it has only 1 USB port and it cannot boot from it. However, it has a bootable floppy drive. So what I did was extract the DSL Embedded zip onto a 2GB USB drive formatted in FAT16 and booted the laptop from a DSL boot floppy. The menu loads fine, but typing in the USB boot command (dsl fromusb xsetup frugal) results in an error message. Boot Failed. I tried different floppies, different USB drives, and even extracting them to a partition on the hard disk (and using the dsl fromhd command), but no luck. What should I do to get DSL installed?

You used the DSL Emdedded release? That's not right, you should have used one of the ISO disc images. The Emdedded release isn't bootable, it's meant to run inside Windows, more info on the Wiki (http://damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/which_file_do_i_download_long_version.html).
Here's what I typed before I noticed that you used the Embedded release:
I remember some mention on the old forum of having to turn off (or maybe on) the "plug and play complient OS" option (or similar) in the BIOS. I can't find any mention of it now though, I've never had the problem myself. Still, worth a try. Giving another USB memory device a try might be worthwhile as well, if you have one to hand.

There are two different ways to install the mbc. Look in the how-to section on evom and you can find the write up there.
