I need help 'switching' my 3g USB dial-up modem...

Hi,
I am very new to both DSL and Linux. My only access to the internet is via a 3g USB dial-up modem. I have tried connecting via Gnome PPP but my modem (ZTE MF110) is not being detected. The problem is apparently that the modem is regarded as an USB storage device rather than as a modem. I need to be able to 'switch' the DefaultVendorID and DefaultProductID from 19d2:0103 to 19d2:0031 and also ensure that the device is classed as a modem not a storage device.
Can I do this in DSL?
Is Sakis3g available for DSL?
Alternatively, is USB ModeSwitch available for DSL and, if so, what other extensions will I also need to install at the same time?
Any help would be appreciated ie. I need any instructions spelt out in the simplest possible terms as I have been struggling to get my head around this problem for ages! Thanks,

Hey davec60, DSL is not equipped to handle USB 3g at this point.  You may  want to try the latest puppy?

Thanks for your quick reply.
I do have Puppy (Slacko) already and it works fine.
I have been trying to get the modem up and running with several linux distributions recently partly because I want to make them more useful to me by having internet access via modem and partly to simply try and learn something about the whole process of getting online with an USB dongle. I'm hoping that the more distros I try it with will broaden and quicken my understanding of what's going on during the modem connection/ISP connection process.
