Hello! I installed DSL 4.4 on a hard drive for an ancient 600 Mhz machine. It has a Realtek RTL8193C ethernet card. It seems that the kernel recognizes the device, but I cannot get any kind of connection from it! I used the X11 app to configure the card, I manually set an IP/mask using ifconfig, The connection is good because the router recognizes it. dmesg states that it discovered the card as eth0 but the link is down. When I try ifup eth0, it complains that it does not recognize the device. lspci shows it as a RealTek 8139C. I also read that there is an Intex RTL8139C which requires a different linux kernel driver than the realtek one supplied. Does anyone know a fix for this?
