Sorry for the delayed response. I have been working a lot lately (56 hours this week) and really tired at the end of the day, but I wanted to give your post the attention it deserves.
1. If there are any major bugs that crop up I will do more RCs for testing. If not I will just push the current RC to the initial 2024.
2. I am going to make 2025 a related but smaller sized distribution.
3. No, I am one person working mostly alone. So, I work on it as I can, between hours of paid work.
4. I have no plans, but I am open to possibilities. If there is demand out there for something like a tiling window manager I would consider adding one. I do not see going DE anytime soon.
5 I absolutely would love help of any kind! I don't see writing a book right now, partially because 2024 piggybacks so much off of antiX, but I think a lot of How-To type of articles could be written, and if it makes sense then we can organize them into a book at some point. Otherwise we could just host them in some type of online resource.
6 You can post here, message me here or email me, John@damnsmalllinux.org.
Thank you,
John
Hey, thanks for the answers, but I have a couple follow-up questions. For #3, I don't think we understood each other, I meant the type of updates (will there be certain "release dates" or will the packages just be constantly updated, like the way Arch Linux does it).
Also, with the 2025 "related but smaller" project, what will happen to the current version of DSL? Will it continue to be maintained or will focus shift to the new version? Just curious because I really like what I see so far! I recently picked up a Dell Inspiron Duo 1090 that runs an Intel Atom. I put AntiX on it initially but I think DSL might actually perform better and so I am thinking about switching over, I just am curious if it will be supported down the road.
Cheers, and again, if anyone does any technical writing I am more than happy to edit/copyedit/collaborate. LaTeX is a great way to make awesome looking documentation.
