I have a Trendnet wi-fi card which has the ACX111 chipset, and it works great with Slackware 10.1. I think if you added the driver for this chipset it would add a lot of value to the distribution. It weighs in at 452 kB. Here is the link to Debian's information page on it.

452k is a very large module...

We try to cram as much as possible into DSL, but space is always the primary concern.

Right now, I think we cram 2 editors and a mp3 player into the same amount of space you are wanting for a single module...

Wow. I didn't realize that those apps *could* be made that small. Looking at it from that angle does make it seem a rather large addition. Keep up the great work!

Actually, your module is bigger than the apps I was referring to :P

Code Sample
dsl@box:~$ ls -lh /usr/bin/mpg321 /usr/bin/vi /bin/nano-tiny
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root        37.0k Nov  9  2003 /bin/nano-tiny
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root        34.6k Dec  7  2003 /usr/bin/mpg321
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root       377.1k Jun 12  2004 /usr/bin/vi

Total (2 editors + mp3 player)  448.7k

:P

Priorities, priorities. Before we dismiss the proposal to include the driver in the base DSL, I believe the choices should be evaluated and judged according to whose merits being greater.
(woah holy shit too much official speech-dom)
anyway

1) 2 editors + mp3player: granted, mpg321 is an essential component, but do we really need 2 editors? Of course everyone has their preferences and the crew tend to give users a choice, but under the circumstance of having:
2) Wireless Drivers: Is this particular model/brand popular, or at least have a large enough audience to warrant inclusion?

I am not American and I have absolutely no knowledge of brand popularity (exceptions being cisco) so it is up to the crew to decide.
me & my 2 cents
