Do you have the j2re1.4.2 extension loaded ?
This is the java package you want to have installed
before you start opera.
Then you'll have a destination for your java path statement.

FYI ke4nt,

I tried out the opera  tar.gz extension recently and I noticed that the symlink that points to the flash plugin file/directory was missing.

This symlink was included in the UCI extension and it works fine.  If the user does not have flash, the symlink is ignored.  Once the user installs flash from the menu it automatically starts working.

Can this symlink be added into the tar.gz version of Opera?

Thanks

Symlink?

Please point me in the right direction..

I just installed the opera.uci, and had to go into the prefs > plugins
Add/point the plugin path to /opt/.firefox_plugins

Now, once I did a backup with "home/dsl/.opera". in it, I never had to do it again..

I thought you had to do this with the opera.tar.gz as well - one time...

In the original opera612.ci submission, there was a symlink to the flash plugin shared object file  /opt/.firefox_plugins/libIforgetTheName.so

It was placed inside the opera plugins directory.

It worked well because the symlink was ignored by opera until the user performed the flash download process.  Then it would start using the flash plugin from the next time that the user launched opera.  No manual prefs changes were needed.

I'll see if I still have the original file kicking around here.

I do remember that it was important to use the command line "ln" tool instead of the emelfm "Symlink" button.

The "Symlink" button generated a pointer towards /ramdisk/opt/.firefox_plugins which is BAD for hdinstall users.

However the "ln" program generated the correct symlink pointer as specified on the command line by the user, ie "/opt/.firefox_plugins/libyayayayay.so"
