I'm trying to install the following from source code, and am getting errors.  Can someone tell me the correct order in which these should be compiled, whether any existing files need to be removed prior to installing these new ones, and what configuration of environment variables, or paths, need to be done so they all work together?

pkg-config-0.20
atk-1.10.3
gettext-0.13
glib-2.8.4
gtk+-2.8.8
pango-1.10.2

I get the following error when I try to ./configure atk-1.10.3 right now.
------------

*** 'pkg-config --modversion glib-2.0' returned 2.8.4, but GLIB (2.6.5)
*** was found! If pkg-config was correct, then it is best

*** by modifying your LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable, or by editing
*** /etc/ld.so.conf. Make sure you have run ldconfig if that is

Thanks in advance.
